good food habits are learned. Teaching your kids healthy eating habits while they are still young will help them make healthy food choices and maintain a healthy lifestyle when they are adults. Unfortunately, with the vast choice of junk food out there, it is no surprise that Children these days would rather eat chips, candies and chocolates rather than healthy meals. Furthermore, kids today are under continuous assault by food advertising, making junk food very desirable to their eyes. As parents, it is our duty to make sure that our kids are eating right and getting the proper nutrition that their rapidly growing bodies need. With this, let me share to you some tips on how to make your kids eat healthy foods.
1)Plan dinners:
If reasoning about a weekly menu is too daunting, start with two or three days at a time. A good dinner doesn't have to be fancy, but duly be balanced: whole-grain bread, rice, or pasta; a fruit or a vegetable; and a protein source like lean meat, cheese, or beans. I often make simple entree soups or Mexican chili ahead of time and then freeze it; at dinnertime, I heat it up and add whole-grain bread and a bowl of cut-up apples or melon to round out repast.
2)Reduce the amount of fat:
Reduce the amount of fat by avoiding deep-fried foods. There are lots of healthier ways to cook, such as broiling, roasting, and steaming. And then with the warm months coming upon us quickly, my favorite way to cook is grilling. And, by choosing low-fat or non fat dairy products to compliment the meal, this will help limit everyone's fat intake-creating healthier meals. My favorite is slow churned ice cream, which is about half the fat as ice creams made with whole milk. You don't have to give up flavor to give up the fat.
3)Serve fruits and vegetables every meal:
Convincing your children to eat healthy foods require discipline. In doing so, you should always serve what is best for their diet during meals. You should make sure that you serve fruits and vegetable every meal time. Always try to add more and more vegetables not only to their dishes, but to the whole family's dishes as well. Children need to see someone in the family whom she can follow. If let your child see that you also eat these kinds of foods, then she may be convinced that she should be on a strict diet too. Do not easily give up on your Children. If they say they won't, then try and try until you reach the right time of convincing them. Just allow plenty of opportunities to get used to the dishes prepared for them.
4)Get your kids involved:
Kids love to help! So let them help in preparing snacks and meals and use the time as an opportunity to talk to them about a healthy, balanced diet. The end result will be Children who understand how to make healthy foods choices on their own!
5)Don't Buy Junk Food:
Children will only eat what is available to them, so use this to your advantage. Most kids will choose a bag of chips over a carrot, so skip the chips next time you're at the grocery shop.
6)DON’T CALL FOOD ‘GOOD’ OR ‘BAD’
By describing foods ‘good’ or ‘bad’ we really are sending the message to our kids that there are ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ things to be eating. And personally, I only don’t believe this to be true. As corny as it sounds (because we’ve heard it a million times before), I am a big fan of calling the less healthy foods “sometimes foods”. It’s easy to understand. It doesn’t attach emotional words to food, it simply is what it says it is. Everything in sobriety.
7)Be a good role model:
Most of the parents we know complain that their children refuse to eat healthfully and come to us in seeking of magic recipes that will put an end to mealtime madness. The real problem most often lies with the parents, not the Children.
